RESEARCH ACTIVITIES ON VERTIGO

Various clinical and basic research projects are realized in patients with vertigo, balance disorders or oculomotor abnormalities. Research is centered on the activities of the Vertigo Outpatient Clinic and the Oculomotor and Balance Laboratory of the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit.
Current projects
- Data collection from rare vestibular (central and peripheral) syndromes for contribution to the European DizzyNet Database
- Participation in European multicenter studies for the development of new therapeutic maneuvers for rare forms of BPPV
- Development of interdisciplinary treatment strategies for non-organic (functional) dizziness
- Cooperation with the Department of Neuroradiology (Dr. G. Velonakis) for the improvement of MR-imaging of the endolymphatic hydrops in Ménière’s disease
- Various experimental vestibular and oculomotor projects using the electrophysiological resources of the Oculomotor and Balance Laboratory
