ANAGNOSTOU EVANGELOS

Evangelos Anagnostou, Associate Professor of Neurology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Dr. Evangelos Anagnostou completed his specialization in Neurology at the University of

Munich in Germany (Klinikum Grosshadern) and at the University of Athens in Greece (Eginition Hospital). He holds a PhD in the field of basic neurophysiology, focusing on multichannel evoked potentials recordings during saccadic eye movements, obtained from the Department of Physiology at the University of Giessen. Additionally, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Center of Sensorimotor Research (University of Munich), where he employed extracellular single neuron recordings in alert monkeys during oculomotor and vestibular tasks.

Currently, Dr. Anagnostou serves as the head of the Oculomotor and Balance Laboratory at Eginition Hospital (University of Athens) and oversees the Clinic for Vertigo and Balance Disorders. Moreover, he is a member of the staff at the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit, where he conducts EMG and NCV studies three days a week.

Throughout his career, Dr. Anagnostou has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on eye movements, vertigo, balance (both on physiology and on clinical disorders), as well as clinical neurophysiology of neuromuscular diseases.

  1. Physiology, pathophysiology and disorders of eye movements, vestibular system, balance and vision
  2. Clinical neurophysiology of neuromuscular diseases

 

Clinical interests:

  1. Vertigo, diplopia, nystagmus, supra-, inter- and infranuclear eye movement disorders.
  2. Clinical neurophysiology (EMG, electronystagmography, evoked potentials)
  3. Headache
