Inpatient Ward of Neuromuscular Disorders

The Inpatient Ward of Neuromuscular Disorders of the First Department of Neurology in Eginitio Hospital is a ward with capacity of 10 beds which specializes in these disorders. The most common of these disorders are Peripheral Neuropathies, Myasthenia, Motor Neuron Disorders and Myopathies.

The specialized neurologists of the ward include Associate Professor in Neurology M.Rentzos and Associate Professor in Neurology V.Zouvelou. The ward is closely linked to the specialized outpatient clinics of Motor Neuron Disorders, Neuropathies and Myasthenia.

 It is also closely linked to the Department’s Unit of Clinical Neurophysiology and to the Unit of Myopathology and Neuropathology. Several additional medical specialties, including among others an Internist, a Cardiologist and a Physiotherapist, support the care of the patients with Neuromuscular disorders.

The ward also teaches medical students and educates neurology residents. Research studies are carried out resulting in several publications-communications in medical journals and congresses, mainly in the fields of Neuropathies, Myasthenia and Motor Neuron Disorders.
