SOCIAL CARE SERVICE

SOCIAL CARE SERVICE

The Social Service of the First Department of Neurology provides specialized psychosocial guidance as well as practical advice to patients (whether hospitalized or followed in the outpatient clinics) and their families.

The Social Workers:

Evaluate the psychosocial needs of patients and their families and provide them with advice on everyday life management after discharge from hospitalization.

Evaluate available community public or private resources that may serve patients’ needs (social policy programs, natural and professional rehabilitation and social reintegration resources) and offer relevant guidance and advice to patients, their families and caregivers.  They often communicate directly with these community services to speed up arrangements between the patient and the appropriate service.

Also, Social Workers participate within the clinic in teaching and research. The Social Service constitutes a center of education for undergraduate students from the Department of Social Work of University of West Attica and other Technological Educational Institutions.
