DEMYELINATING DISORDERS CLINIC

Patients with Multiple Sclerosis or other demyelinating disorders of the Central Nervous System are followed in the outpatient Demyelinating Disorders Clinic. It was established in 2004 and it has a total of about 4000 patients registered, currently providing approximately 500 first-time evaluations yearly. The Clinic is operated by Neurologists specializing in demyelinating diseases and neuroimmunology and it is closely associated to the inpatient Ward of CNS autoimmune & demyelinating disorders (Ward D) and to the Unit of Short Stay and Clinical Studies of the 1st Department of Neurology. It is also in close collaboration with several other units and services (such as Neuroimmunology UnitPhysical Therapy Service, Social Care Service etc) to provide as complete as possible care to its patients. 

The Clinic also functions as an important unit of the 1st Department of Neurology in its function as a National Center of Reference and Expertise for Rare Diseases.
