EMERGENCY ROOM (ER)

The ER of the 1st Neurology Department provides neurological patient care every fourth day, according to the 24-hour schedule designated by the Ministry of Health.

Its purpose is to provide immediate and specialized care to patients in need of neurologic emergency care. Approximately 3,500 patients are evaluated each year in the ER. They come from all over Attica and from regional hospitals in the country.

All patients are treated according to international standards by specialized medical and nursing staff following the most modern treatment protocols of European and World Scientific Organizations.

Among other neurologic emergencies, the hospital's ER is staffed and equipped for diagnosis and treatment in the first phase of acute ischemic stroke with intravenous thrombolytic therapy, in line with international guidelines.
