APOSTOLAKOPOULOU LOUKIA
Dr. Loukia Apostolakopoulou was born in Athens and earned her medical degree from the School of Health Sciences at the University of Patras (graduating with Honors). She completed her residency in Neurology at the 1st Department of Neurology, Eginition Hospital (NKUA), following clinical training at the Neurology Department of Penteli Children's Hospital, as well as the Internal Medicine and Psychiatry Departments of the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica and the 251 Hellenic Air Force General Hospital, respectively.
She specialized in Epileptology and Electroencephalography at the Specialized Epilepsy Center of the Christian Doppler University Hospital in Salzburg, Austria (EpiCARE - European Reference Network). Following a prestigious scholarship from the Michael Foundation Grant, she completed and received accreditation for the training course "EEG in the Diagnosis & Management of Epilepsy – Advanced", which is one of the "Virtual Epilepsy Academy" (VIREPA) training courses and is administered annually by the International League against Epilepsy (ILAE) in collaboration with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (New York, USA). Additionally, she holds a clinical certification in Headache Management from Sapienza University of Rome.
Currently, she serves as a Scientific Associate at the 1st Department of Neurology, Eginition Hospital, with active clinical involvement in the Special Outpatient Epilepsy Clinic, the EEG Laboratory, and the Long-term Video-EEG Monitoring Unit. She is a PhD Candidate at the NKUA School of Medicine, focusing her research on congenital neurodevelopmental disorders. Her primary scientific and research interests include epilepsy, electroencephalography, neurodevelopmental disorders, and headaches.
Her academic activity includes participation in the undergraduate training of medical students at NKUA and the Department’s postgraduate seminars. She is a member of the Hellenic Neurological Society, the European Academy of Neurology, and the ILAE. She actively participates in international, European, and national conferences, frequently contributing with lectures and research presentations on epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology.
