BRIEF SUMMARY
I was born in Athens in 1991 and graduated from Athens College (Hellenic American Education Foundation) in 2008, a school with international mentality and many activities which broadened my horizons and taught me to think out of the box.
I studied medicine at the University of Patras. Continuous effort for academic excellence is something I pursued from my early years as a medical student when facing a challenging field. On top of that I engaged in a doctoral fellowship choosing the innovative subject of phenotype- genotype correlation in a group of patients with neural crest disorders, which is still in progress. Being passionate and committed to the project helps me grow my flexibility, adaptability and initiative taking.
My psychiatric training at 251 Airforce Hospital led me to obtain a specialized patient approach from the perspective of a differently organized military hospital. Enhancing my intuition and learning how to handle patients with sentimental disturbances, which are seen in abundance in neurological diseases as well, was a valuable add-on.
I have 3,5 years of clinical experience at the field of neurology. I completed my training in child neurology at Agia Sophia and Penteli Children’s Hospitals. I am currently practicing adult neurology at Eginition Hospital, the oldest and most specialized University Hospital of Greece having the privilege of combining high level academic and multifold clinical work. My scientific duties consist of attending medical lectures, writing and presenting case reports and literature reviews and training of 5th year medical students.
These processes lead to self-improvement through persistence, staying up-to-date and cultivating influential speaking skills.
On clinical grounds, rotations on Medical emergencies, Outpatient Clinic, Stroke unit, Neurodegenerative Department, Demyelinating Diseases, Peripheral Nervous system, and EEG laboratory have equipped me with a spherical understanding of neurology.
Dealing with emergencies and being responsible of one’s own patients made me capable of making decisions and handling crises. My ideal patient approach consists of showing compassion while maintaining work ethic which I believe is essential for proper and effective treatment. Routine optimization and hazard avoidance are strategies I try to implement in my working environment.
Moreover, working as part of a team helped me empower my communication skills. Multicultural interaction was familiar to me from my school attendance and is carried on by international collaborations. Having a manifold personality with creativity and many interests including debating and sports is my key for keeping a balanced mind and soul.
