QUALIFICATIONS AND ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

  • Diploma in Biology. Department of Biology, NKUA, GR (1988-1993)
  • M.Sc. in Medical Biotechnology, Medical School, Newcastle University, UK (1993-1994)
  • Ph.D. in Psychiatric Genetics. Medical School, NKUA, GR (1997-2000).

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Research interests are in the field of molecular biology and its application to human genetics and are focused on the genetics of heredodegenerative disorders of the nervous system. Special interest on rare hereditary disorders of the nervous system, such as Huntington’s disease, hereditary ataxias, hereditary spastic paraplegia and hereditary neuropathies. She has published over 90 papers in international journals in the field of human genetics, psychogenetics, clinical neurology and neurogenetics (h-index 25, citations 2133, Scopus 07/2024).

CLINICAL/LABORATORY   PRACTISE

  • Co-head of the Neurogenetics Unit at the 1st Department of Neurology, Medical School, NKUA, since 2017.
  • Responsible for the Neurogenetics Unit Laboratory since 2005
