Eginitio Hospital was founded on the initiative of the first professor Michael Katsaras, - a student of J.M. Charcot, -
in 1904 thanks to the bequest of Dionysius and Helen Aeginitis (Royal Decree 19/7/1904).
It initially housed the Neuropsychiatry headquarters and later after the two seats were separated (1963),
those of Neurology and Psychiatry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
